Lucy Child, Dietitian BSc RD
Lucy Child is an experienced dietitian with over 24 years experience, much of it in mental health and eating disorders.
Good nutrition equates to opportunity. With good nutrition people have a chance to thrive; to think well, have a functional memory, have a family and friends, to be creative, to fight infection, keep bones strong into old age, remain active, live longer, to realise their dreams.
"I've seen malnutrition in many guises through my professional life; surgical patients, people with alcoholic liver disease, debilitated elderly people, cancer sufferers and very obese people as well as people with eating disorders. In every case, the malnutrition has negatively affected the physical and mental wellbeing of that person, reducing their chances of recovery and, tragically in some cases, contributing to their deaths. I've always derived great satisfaction from assisting return to nutritional health, moving a person away from the indignity of ill-health and possibly dependence into a robust and joyous return to their own potential."
